Days Inn BIG Issue
8:50 PM. All went well with our trip to Birmingham Airport, Atlanta Airport, and San Diego Airport. Then, the trouble began!
@8:50 PM, after we landed in San Diego and retrieved our luggage, I called the Days Inn & Suites San Diego Near Sea World,3350 Rosecrans St, San Diego, CA 92110, (619) 224-9800. It took a few minutes to reach them because the first time I called, no one answered. Finally, after calling several times, including a number David Droste had, Johnathan answered. I told him we were at the airport and ready to be picked up; he informed me that the last shuttle left @ 9:00 PM (Note that this time is actually 10 minutes in the future!) and that we would have to get our own transportation! I told him I had not been told anything about shuttle times, only to call when we arrive and someone would pick us up. (Note: I did not know it at the time, but he was the one I talked to when I made the reservations on October 25th). After more back & forth discussions, we go contacted a commercial shuttle to take us to the motel at a cost of $45.00. When we arrived at the motel (about 9:15PM), Johnathan's shift had ended; the "new" desk clerk (Danny) was not aware of previous discussions. On the desk was a sign that stated shuttle service ends at 9:30PM!
Although I had booked two rooms, I assumed they would be relatively close to each other but we were put in two separate buildings - one was actually across a street.
Once in our room (218), I turned on the TV; all I could get was the Guide - all other channels showed "Not Available". I called the front desk; Danny sent a maintenance man who unplugged the power cord then plugged it back in to reset the signal. He then told us once all lights (4 or 5) on the screen were green, the TV would be okay. He then left without confirming he had fixed the problem. After the system recycled (all lights green), I displayed the Guide but no channels were available. I tried the "unplug power" technique several times with the same results. I even moved the HDMI cable to other inputs on the TV - nada! Called Danny again; he said he would send the maintenance man again then asked if we wanted to change rooms if the cable signal could not be restored. I said "no" because my wife was already in bed. The maintenance man did not respond again.
